What to Expect When You Get Dental Implants
After the tooth has been knocked out or extracted and given time to heal properly, the implant is ready to be placed deep inside the jaw bone. The oral surgeon will give you instructions prior to the procedure for your safety and a local sedative will be given to your tooth to aid in your comfort. The doctor will drill a hole into your jaw bone, which feels similar to having a cavity drilled.
After the dental implant treatment is completed you will be sent home with another set of instructions that will aid in your teeth and gums healing properly. For example, you will be asked to avoid hard or hot foods to avoid damage to the affected area while you are still recovering from the oral sedative. There will also be follow-up appointments to make ensure your full recovery.
